On Communication

I find it quite entertaining that in ancient times people communicated in hieroglyphics, which then evolved into writing, and now we’ve technically reverted back to hieroglyphics (as seen in the case of smileys used by avid instant messaging internauts, text messaging and other graphical abbreviations).

In terms of communication it would appear that humanity has not evolved, rather, it has REvolved.

Motivation comes in… pixels?

On the subject of human interaction, distances and online chat… it is intriguing how some people – so far away and who we’ve never met in person – can be so unexpectedly inspiring and motivate us in moments when we’re feeling flat. Somehow, through mere pixelated words on the screen, we have inspired in them the confidence to tell us that they firmly believe we can accomplish our goals, do the impossible. Almost like a life-long friend who has been with us through everything. Besides comforting though, it is of course also quite strange.

Who really is that person behind those words?

Quotes

"A riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma."
- Winston Churchill

"The pages are still blank, but there is a miraculous feeling of the words being there, written in invisible ink and clamouring to become visible."
- Vladimir Nabokov

"He who enjoys doing and enjoys what he has done is happy."
- Goethe
